We have finally updated our forum software to phpBB3. Hopefully the change wont cause any problems! Just be aware that the URL for the forums is now slightly different.

12.11.07 - Two More Scrims
We've had a couple of scrims in the last week, with mixed results. First up we played against (TeamNameHere) for a few rounds on Granary and Well. Unfortunately the game didnt go well for us, and we were beaten in each round. Scores ended at 0-4.

Last night we got back into the groove of things tho with a good win over bR. We played on GravelPit, and it was looking close after both teams successfully capped out in the first two rounds. But from there on we modified our game some, and were able to continue our offence success, as well as defend until the buzzer. Final score was 7-1, and a good game was played by all.

27.09.07 - First Scrim agaisnt TSW
We had our first TF2 scrim tonight, against NZ squad Team SideWinder. It was a 5v5 game on 2Fort, with both teams starting out with a strong Scout force. The first half saw both teams capping the Intel in turns, with scores equal at 3-3 at one stage. Both teams then tried varying tactics a bit, which worked out good for us. Good Spy work from Hiro saw us get two caps in a row to lead 5-3.

The second half saw a similar start with a Scout rush at the start, but we swapped into a more balanced approach fairly early. The Soldier/Medic combo of Concept and Zebster allowed us to get at the Intel numerous times, and we came away with the half finishing 5-1.

The match finished at 10-4. A good game was played all round. Initial thoughts are that 5v5 might be a little small for 2Fort. Will be very interesting to see a 7v7 or thereabouts game in the near future.

20.09.07 - Team Fortress 2 Division Opens
With the much awaited Team Fortress 2 (Beta) finally released to the public, the S07 crew who have jumped in are so far having a blast. Literally, as there are many explosions and shotguns to be enjoyed by all! We can also foresee a strong Australian community, and thus a healthy competition base, most likely in the form of GameArena.

Anyways, like our previous endeavours, recruiting will initially be done internally and be available to known persons of S07. If we feel it necessary, we will then look into the general community to bolster our ranks.

12.06.07 - LAD 07, Final vs ADF
In what was probably one of the most epic matches that the Australian RvS community has ever provided, ADF have come up trumps in the Final for the MelAus LAD 2007 competition. The whole game, and thus the whole season, came down to the very last round, we took a chance, but unfortunately it just didnt fall our way.

The first map was Oil Refinery, with S07 rescuing the hostages on Green. We had a good start, getting five rescues in the first three rounds. ADF re-shuffled their defences, and it earned them a few points to bring the scores back together. Getting to the hostages was always tricky, but our efforts of escorting them out to safety was top notch all game. The quarter went our way 11-8.

The second quarter saw one of the more spectacular rounds happen. After being breached and ADF getting both hostages moving, we were looking a bit concerned. But Oak and TB set up good positioning around the extract zones, and in a three-on-two defense job avoiding hostage casualties, were able to keep ADF from getting any points and saving the round. The scoring was very consistent thru out the match, as no team made any significant grounds on the other. Again, we took a narrow lead at the end, winning the quarter 11-9, leaving the half 22-17 in our favour.

We were then in the Penthouse, starting on Green again. We had a very shaky start tho, as our usual methods of attack were of little use against ADF. Dropping the first three rounds, we needed a drastic change, so we decided to go full aggressive, with tremendous results. We bought the scores back to a closer level, with ADF taking the quarter 7-13.

The final quarter was again very to and fro. Both teams take the lead, and then concede the next round. At the time of the last round, we were trailing by only two points. We decided not to sit back, and take an aggressive stance, hoping to catch them out. We lost a few guys early, gained a few kills back, but were ultimately defeated and the match went to ADF. The quarter went 8-12, the half 15-25, and the match 37-42.

Everyone for S07 played a great match; PistolWhip and Rishnik did the job on Oil Ref, whilst Concept Oakeon and TerriblyBritish gave us a good chance on Penthouse.

Congratulations to ADF for winning the final, it was a great match with plenty of good tactics and firefights from both sides.

26.05.07 - LAD 07, Semi Final vs bA
We have worked our way into the LAD 07 Final with a good, but hard fought, win against Black Arrow (bA). We decided to play both maps on the same night, and we started as Red Team on Penthouse. And a very good start it was, making successful defends in the first three rounds. A 10-1 lead after the first four rounds was welcome, but bA varied their tactics a bit and bought a few hostages out, the quarter ending a close 11-8 in our favour.

The second quarter attacking as Green Team was our best of the night. We had good suppressive fire points to cover our pointmen, and some good coordination and communication saw us do successful escorts in five rounds. In one round, some particularly sneaky work by Rishnik and TerriblyBritish saw a successful extract of the two hostages with a bA member still alive, left thoroughly confused at the end when he realised the two hostages he was meant to be defending had both been rescued. We held a 15 point lead at the half.

Then the game moved onto Oil Refinery, where again we had a lightning start to the match. Starting on Red Team, after the first five rounds we were leading 10-4. Rishnik had one very good round, eliminating all four bA members in a single round of AK47 fury. bA were committed to fighting all the way to the end tho, and they really turned the game around. Some successful multi-entry breaches saw the quarter end in our favour only slightly at 11-8.

The final quarter was our worse for the night, and bA made some real ground on the score line. It started with rotating successes, until we killed a hostage in the second last round and bA finishing the night with a successful defend. As Green tho we did have a couple of good rounds with some exciting breaches, but bA thought out their cover and defended well.

The final score was 44-34, our way. On Penthouse, Concept and TerriblyBritish were at their best, maintaining their strong form shown in the whole competition to date. On Oil Refinery it was Rishnik and PistolWhip who got the kills on the board. Slasher and Oakeon also provided good support throughout the match.

And I'd like to say Congratulations to Black Arrow. You guys definately came into this competition as underdogs compared to some of the more established clans, but you showed everyone that there is some good talent there, and some very good tactical thinking and coordination in the team. Well done on reaching the Semi Finals, and good luck in the next comp!

07.05.07 - LAD 07, Ladder Stage Finished
With all Round 7 matches now played, the standings for the Ladder Stage of the Lad 07 competition are finalised. We gave ourselves a comfortable lead at the top, ahead of DOG, ADF and bA. Our performance in limiting the scoring from bA in the last round also means we will face them again in the Semi-Finals, which will be a two map affair over two weeks.

Here is how the ladder finished up:
1. S07 (5 Wins, 1 Loss, 0.69 Save Ratio, 0.01 Kill Ratio, 174 Points)
2. DOG (4 Wins, 2 Losses, 0.58 Save Ratio, 0.03 Kill Ratio, 146 Points)
3. ADF (5 Wins, 1 Loss, 0.56 Save Ratio, 0.04 Kill Ratio, 145 Points)
4. bA (4 Wins, 2 Losses, 0.55 Save Ratio, 0.02 Kill Ratio, 135 Points)
---------------
5. AKA (2 Wins, 4 Losses, 0.51 Save Ratio, 0.04 Kill Ratio, 123 Points)
6. RSR (1 Win, 5 Losses, 0.29 Save Ratio, 0.03 Kill Ratio, 70 Points)
7. EGO (0 Wins, 6 Losses, 0.13 Save Ratio, 0.02 Kill Ratio, 32 Points)

07.05.07 - LAD 07, Round 7 vs bA
After having the Bye in Round 6, we were keen for a strong finish to the ladder stage of the LAD competition. We faced up against the surprise success story of the ladder in bA, with the map being Penthouse.

Initially theory on Penthouse led up to believe that rescuing hostages would be a very hard task. So starting as Red, our goal was to obviously keep bA scoring to an absolute minimum. Overall we did a good job in maintaining control, but bA did get thru a couple of times. We held a ten point lead at the half way mark.

The second half saw us perform better than we thought was possible. Hoping to just get enough points to win, our lads were able to infiltrate the Penthouse on numerous occasions and get the hostages out alive. In the end, we only left behind three hostages of 14.

The final score was 31-9. It was a good performance by all, but Concept stood out as our main figure, particularly strong in defence on Red. TerriblyBritish was invaluable as well for intel and coordination.

22.04.07 - LAD 07, Round 5 vs ADF
Another very good win, with moments of comfort, worry and finally satisfaction. On Oil Refinary, we started as Red team and opened up our account quickly. We successfully defended both hostage's numerous times, and kept good obs on the situation. ADF got both hostages out in one well planned round, but it was our half. Scores 12-3.

The second half saw us get a bit shaky tho. Our early rounds were plagued with confusion and a lack of coordination which hurt us, and allowed ADF to get back into the game. But then we took on a fresh approach to things, and following a one-on-three snatch from TerriblyBritish, we kicked it up a notch and got both hostages out in three consecutive rounds, guaranteeing the win.

We finished the game with a 23-12 win. TerriblyBritish was definately our most valuable player, while Concept held some key moments and kept a level head to help us thru.
